My husband is convinced (and I think I ...</title><content type='html'>Hi David,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My husband is convinced (and I think I agree with him) that until we have a tipping culture in the UK like that found in North America, customer service will continue to be a function of individual skills/service/training, rather than ubiquitous. We have had many experiences like yours and it grates, particularly after having travelled quite a lot to the US and Canada in the last few years.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I don&amp;#39;t care for about the North American system is that it seems like a convenient excuse to carry on paying people minimum wage.
